Jacques Cartier Bridge: Three Lanes Open Towards the South Shore during Rush Hour on Friday, December 23
We wish to inform you of the exceptional opening of three lanes on the Jacques Cartier Bridge towards the South Shore during rush hour on the morning of Friday, December 23 due to the complete closure of south bound lanes on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel.
Given this exceptional situation and due to traffic being lighter right before the holidays, traffic during rush hour will be carried out on two lanes towards Montreal and on three lanes towards the South Shore. This measure will ease traffic for road users wishing to access the South Shore via the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, the main available option due to closure of the tunnel. However, traffic towards Montreal may be more heavy than normal at this time of year.
Our Operations and Maintenance team will remain vigilant throughout Friday morning in order to quickly intervene if traffic becomes too heavy towards Montreal.
This decision was taken in collaboration with the Ministère des Transports du Québec. The Corporation wishes to extend its full collaborate in order to ease traffic during this difficult period. The opening of the central lane on the Jacques Cartier Bridge towards the South Shore will be open over the next several days until the tunnel’s southbound lanes can be reopened.

@ Paul Aboud
Sorry for the delay, but yes the bridge was opened. If you visit this blog and there’s no closure announced in the “home” page, there should be no roadwork on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Thank you.
